We had a visit from the EY foundation, a UK charity funded in part by a company called EY. They spoke to a group of Y12 students about a ten month programme, which starts with paid work experience in Easter to allow them to gain a variety of transferable skills that will give them a head start no matter where you go post-year 13. The programme will make our students more employable and equip them with many differing skills.
On Wednesday, 6th February 2019, a group of Year 12 students visited the Marriott Hotel in Liverpool to attend a Pathways to the Legal Profession workshop. It showed students the options for the traditional route into law and the apprenticeship pathway. It was a great way to network with firms re work experience and find out more about the opportunities a career in Law can offer.
Year 12 students benefitted from a visit from Liverpool University to discuss applying to University, how to search for courses, choosing the right course, choosing the right university, an introduction to student finance and the whether home or away is preferable. Students had the opportunity to apply for campus visits for the more competitive courses including Medicine, Engineers and Law.
Year 12 students have had their first assembly to explain about work experience. Students need to plan their own placement for the week of 1st – 5th July 2019. Miss Shaw, our Head of PSHE has sent a letter to all parents asking for any support with placements for our students. All help will be greatly appreciated.
Year 13 students are now preparing for their final examinations in May/June 2019. We recognise that this is a stressful time for them and they will have the full support of all staff during this time. If parents have any concerns, they should contact Mr Bellmon or another member of the college team who will be able to assist. Students should have made a revision plan and commenced their revision. Past Papers are an excellent way for students to revise and subject teachers will willingly support students with these. We wish all our students the very best in their forthcoming examinations.
We are currently recruiting students for September 2019. All Year 11 students will have a guidance meeting with a member of the Senior Leadership Team in the very near future. We welcome applications from external students; the closing date for these are March 31st. Applications for external students can be found on the college website, please click on the Apply Now link on the Home page.
