Year 12 Bridging Units
Bridging Units are subject specific information packs which help you to prepare for your KS5 courses. They are introductions to your chosen courses and will point you to key texts that you should read and tasks your teachers want you to complete. They help to ‘bridge’ the transition from GCSE to A Level and BTEC. The work has been designed to contain a variety of tasks for you to complete. The key to success in post 16 studies is your ability to work independently so now is the perfect time to practise!
You have been given paper copies of the bridging units, but you may prefer to download them. You can do that by clicking here.

A-LEVEL RESULTS 2023
Students and staff at St Hilda’s College are once again celebrating the exceptional achievements of our students.
Headteacher, Mrs. Code said:
“Congratulations to every single one of our students who have been so positive and worked so hard to achieve their excellent results. Today, as our students collected their results, I was reminded of their dedication, resilience and sheer perseverance. It would be remiss of me not to mention the unique challenges this cohort faced. Their Year 10 and 11 GCSE experience was unlike any previous cohort because of the pandemic, so I am profoundly proud of each one them for overcoming this challenge. Today, we celebrate not just their results, but the collective spirit of our St Hilda’s family. With more than 25 academic and vocational courses on offer, it is great to see that yet again St Hilda’s College has maintained our track record of excellence in A Level and Vocational education. The progression of our students to employment, apprenticeships and prestigious universities remains excellent.
I would also like to acknowledge the work and commitment of all the staff, who have played a significant part in helping to prepare and support students.”
St Hilda’s College has an impressive track record of preparing students to gain places 1st or 2nd choice university course and this year is no different. Each year, more and more of our students accept places in Russell Group universities. They are now getting ready to travel all over the UK to study History, Geography, Graphic Design, Music, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biomedical Science, Psychology, Engineering, Business Management, Economics, Chemistry, MFL Sport Management, Diagnostic Radiotherapy, Cyber Security and Events Management, Law, Economics, Forensic Science, Automotive Engineering and English Literature.
Our students who have chosen the apprenticeship route have secured places on equally impressive courses such as Mechanical Engineering, Business and Accountancy.

Safer Internet Day 2023
For Safer Internet Day 2023, the UK Safer Internet Centre is organising celebrations and learning based around the theme ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’. they are celebrating by putting children and young people’s voices at the heart of the day and encouraging them to shape the online safety support that they receive.
They are asking parents, carers, teachers, government, policymakers, and the wider online safety industry to take time to listen to children and young people and make positive change together.
This year they are hoping to answer the following questions:
- What issues really matter to children and young people?
- What changes do they want to see?
- How can we all work together to advocate for them moving forward?
As a school, we will be delivering lessons to KS3 students based around the theme. Parents can also find some great resources at the following link: https://www.saferinternetday.org/resources and selecting English as the language.

YEAR 12 PARENT-CARER EVENING – 26th JANUARY 2023
Online Appointment Booking
I would like to invite you to attend our virtual parents’ evening on Thursday 26th January 2023. This is an important evening and provides you with an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers (virtually). Appointments will be taken between 3:30pm and 6:30pm for staff who teach year 12.
We have introduced a new, easy to use online appointment booking system. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and you will receive an email confirming your appointments. We are using an innovative system that allows us to use video calling to communicate between parents and teachers (school cloud). This is temporarily replacing in-school parents’ evenings. We feel a video appointment will be a useful replacement at this point in time.
Appointments can be booked from 8am on Monday 16th January and will close on Monday 23rd January at 6pm. Should you wish to make any changes after this date please contact the school.
Please visit https://sthildascofe.schoolcloud.co.uk/ to book your appointments. (A short guide on how to add appointments is included with this letter). Please read it carefully, follow the link to the correct page and please remember to input information correctly. The information you are inputting must match up to the information stored on our school system. If you are a Miss the system defaults to Ms. This may help when adding your details to the system.
If there are any issues please get in touch.
Yours sincerely
Ms Andrea Howard
Head of College/Assistant Headteacher
