Year 12 Enrichment assembly
Yesterday we hosted our Year 12 Enrichment assembly.
Universities and employers are now looking for much more than solely academic skills. Our fantastic enrichment programme offers students lots of choice to develop skills outside of their timetabled lessons. Our EPQ enrichment allows students to undertake a research project in any area of their choosing and is the equivalent of an AS level qualification. The Level 1 Sports Leaders Qualification is an ideal start for any students wanting to teach or study Physical Education/Sport at University and a chance to gain a Nationally recognised qualification. Our Science Crest Silver Award is a nationally recognised scheme for student-led project work in the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths). We have an IT enrichment course available which allows students to explore how a computer works from both the hardware and software elements. The Music and Media enrichment provides students an opportunity to introduce, host (or co-host) a programme, create links between items, introduce and interview guests and possibly interact with the audience. Our Maths Enrichment course has been tailored for those students applying for a maths related degree at university. Students will undertake a tailored series of activities which will broaden their experience of Maths and prepare them for undergraduate study. Architects for the future will teach key skills such as project management, modelling techniques in a range of materials and learning key architectural presentational skills such as one and two point perspective. Community project enrichment will involve working with our chaplains to organise events to help our local community and work with organisations form across the city as they work to make a difference in people’s lives. Finally we have the opportunity for students to support those in lower school whether this be our paired reading scheme, SEND support or supporting with lower school lessons!
